Personal injury claims management specialist EML has released a new video how owning your own injury is the key to recovery.
Chris Williams, a former arborist from Victoria who sustained multiple injuries requiring numerous surgeries after a car accident at work, shared his story via the new EML video in the hopes of helping others make that transition.
“When you own your injury, you accept it, and you try to build what you are, to what you want to be,” Williams said, who won a WorkSafe Award last year for his commitment to returning to work. “I had to adjust to a new normal.”
To regain his physical mobility, Williams underwent a challenging rehabilitation process and made a major change in his working life. From working outdoors in a very physical job as an arborist, he returned to work in a mainly office-based role. Williams also credited the support of his colleagues, family, and EML for his recovery and return to work.
“One of the main things that really helped me recover was staying 100% positive,” Williams said. “And to look to the future and think big and think beyond, as the only thing holding you back is yourself.”
