Insurance broking firm EBM has commemorated two major career milestones within its team, recognising the 25th anniversary of chief executive officer and executive director Ward Dedman and the 10-year tenure of account manager Jemma August.

Ward Dedman’s career

Dedman (pictured left) joined EBM in 2000 as rural/regional division manager, where he began developing key business areas and establishing relationships with clients, insurers, and brokers locally and internationally.

Over the years, he took on several senior roles before being appointed CEO and executive director in 2019.

His contributions extend beyond EBM to the broader industry. Dedman has been actively involved with the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA), where he previously served as vice president, and chaired the WA Divisional Committee. In 2007, he received both the State (WA) and National NIBA Young Professional Broker of the Year Awards.

In a LinkedIn post, EBM acknowledged Dedman’s contributions to the company and the insurance industry.

“Ward’s journey at EBM reflects his exemplary leadership, steadfast commitment, and outstanding contributions to both our organisation and the broader industry,” it said.

Under Dedman’s leadership, EBM has continued to grow, with the company crediting his strategic direction and long-term vision for its success.

The company added that Dedman’s 25-year milestone recognises his sustained impact on the organisation and his contributions to the insurance sector more broadly.

“Ward’s silver anniversary is a celebration not only of his tenure but of his legacy of leadership, resilience, and unwavering dedication. Under his stewardship, EBM continues to thrive as a beacon of putting good people first and excellence within the industry,” it said.

Jemma August’s career

In addition, August (pictured right) was recognised for her decade of service. August began her EBM career in the Kalgoorlie office as an assistant account manager, leveraging her background in communications and administration.

Her professional development included achieving Tier 2 and Tier 1 Insurance Broking qualifications, as well as completing a Diploma of Insurance Broking. Her career path saw her take on roles in the Sydney and Perth offices before returning to Kalgoorlie. Across these roles, August has continued to manage insurance programs and cultivate strong client relationships, contributing to EBM’s reputation for client-focused service.

“Jemma’s team members describe her as a knowledgeable and meticulous broker who expertly handles client insurance programs with care and confidence,” EBM said. “Her ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, coupled with her kind and helpful nature, makes her an invaluable asset to the team.”
