DWF, a global provider of integrated legal and business services, has expanded its specialist insurance offering by appointing Anthony Forrester and Marissa Coward as special counsels in its insurance team.

Forrester has more than 20 years of experience in occupational health and safety, risk management and workers' compensation, product liability, public liability, and compulsory third-party insurance. Before joining DWF, he was a special counsel at Jensen McConaghy in Brisbane. He has also acted on behalf of numerous State and Commonwealth Government bodies, insurers, self-insureds, and corporations.

As a new member of the insurance team, Forrester is expected to use his extensive experience in law and injury claims – including workers' compensation (State and Federal jurisdictions), motor vehicle, and public liability claims.

Coward has 13 years of experience in the defence of dust disease and personal injury claims. She is also experienced in plaintiff and defendant recovery actions and insurance litigation involving property damage, negligence, and motor vehicle accidents.

Throughout her career, Coward has developed unique expertise in respiratory illness claims conducted across several jurisdictions nationally. Most recently, she served as a special counsel at Holman Webb in Brisbane.

As a special counsel at DWF's insurance team, Coward is expected to enhance the firm's niche specialty in respiratory illness claims and dust disease litigation.

Damien van Brunschot, the regional managing partner for Australasia and head of Insurance in Australia at DWF, has welcomed the new special counsels – emphasising that their skills, unique knowledge, and insights are an excellent addition to the firm's team of insurance experts.

“In particular, we welcome the leadership and insights that these senior lawyers will bring to our clients and to our team,” van Brunschot said.

“DWF's ability to attract senior practitioners of the calibre of Anthony and Marissa is testament to the strength of our growing brand in the Australian market and our collaborative and inclusive culture. Our ability to consistently provide excellent client service always aimed at achieving favourable outcomes is what allows us to continue to attract clients and top talent.”
