Cover-More Travel Insurance (Cover-More) has become a supporting partner and official travel insurance partner of the global LGBTQIA+ event WorldPride.
The event, to be held in Sydney in February 2023, will see Sydney WorldPride and Sydney Mardi Gras team up to present an LGBTQIA+ pride mega-festival with the theme, “Gather, Dream, Amplify,” developed by First Nations and LGBTQIA+ communities whose talents will be showcased globally.
As part of the deal, Cover-More will join the 17-day event and:
“We're very proud and excited to support this incredible event on the LGBTQIA+ calendar, especially since Sydney WorldPride 2023 will be the first WorldPride held in the southern hemisphere, and 2023 will also mark 45 years of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras,” said Cover-More Group CEO Cara Morton. “As a global travel insurance business, we understand there is nothing more exciting than packing a bag and touring the world; however, LGBTQIA+ travellers are often forced to deal with additional risks, depending on where they are travelling.”
Like its parent company Zurich Group, Cover-More maintains a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination, disrespectful behaviour, bullying, and harassment.
“We are a company where empathy and respect, diversity, and inclusion are at our core. And we are a group of people prepared to speak up and who does not shy away from standing up for what is right,” Morton said.
Sydney WorldPride 2023 incorporates the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and will host up to 300 events for more than 500,000 people. The event will feature a headline performance by Kylie Minogue, live music, DJs and performances at The Domain, and the three-day Human Rights Conference.
Commenting on the partnership with Cover-More, Sydney WorldPride chief executive Kate Wickett said: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Cover-More to the Sydney WorldPride family as a supporting partner. We are also very grateful for their support for our 100 scholars who will be travelling from across the globe to take part in the Human Rights Conference, the cornerstone event of Sydney WorldPride.”
