Community Underwriting has opened its 2021 Small Grants Program that is available to not-for-profit or community-based organisations.
The annual program enables Community Underwriting to reinvest its clients' insurance dollars back into the sector.
As part of the program, the underwriting agency allocates 5% of its annual surplus to a small grants pool for clients that have renewed their insurance with the agency. Its insurer partners also contribute to the pool, enabling the agency to respond to more worthy projects.
The projected grants available for this year's program include:
“We have had a challenging but successful year in 2020/21, and thanks to the support of our brokers and their clients, our grants pool has been maintained at a level similar to 2020 and should see us having awarded more than 230 grants since we commenced operations in 2014,” Community Underwriting said in a statement.
Community Underwriting's Small Grants Program aims to continue growing every year to make a difference to as many clients as possible.
Eligible applicants for the 2021 Small Grants Program are not-for-profit or community-based organisations that have renewed their insurance with Community Underwriting during the last 12 months and completed the application in full, then submitted it to the agency with any supporting information by November 26, 2021.
“COVID has created some significant hurdles in the timing and delivery of projects in 2019 and 2020, but we have worked with recipients to extend the opportunity to deliver projects when safe and appropriate to do so,” said Community Underwriting executive director Graeme Berwick in the agency's 2020 Grant Recipients report.
