Colin Biggers & Paisley has announced the appointment of Chris Bresler as a lead partner in its property insurance practice.

Bresler has expertise in complex coverage matters and the defence of first-party property claims, as well as handling recoveries, according to a news release. His work includes claims related to business interruption, industrial special risk, arson and fire damage, flooding and water damage, and fraud. He has represented both domestic and London market insurers, particularly in the construction and infrastructure sectors.

“While property insurance has always been part of our offering, Chris will be a dedicated partner in this line of business and spearhead the expansion of our offering,” said Gavin Creighton, joint practice leader of the insurance group. “This move reinforces our commitment to listening to our clients to ensure that we continue to meet their needs.”

Bresler will work with Colin Biggers & Paisley’s property team, which includes Vanessa Gulesserian, Peter Moran, Phil Atkin, and Greg Skehan.

“I am excited to be joining a team of insurance experts who are committed to delivering outcome-focused solutions,” Bresler said. “With Colin Biggers & Paisley’s strong reputation and client-centric approach, I look forward to contributing to the practice’s continued growth and success in the industry.”

Bresler is a dual-qualified lawyer with experience in commercial and insurance litigation in both Australia and South Africa. He has advised organisations across industries, including building and construction, banking, energy, transport and logistics, and medical and pharmaceutical sectors.

The appointment aligns with the practice’s efforts to expand its expertise in property and construction insurance, the news release said. The announcement comes as Colin Biggers & Paisley marks its 125th anniversary in 2025. In September, the company announced plans to introduce a new brand identity.
