Clyde & Co has unveiled its latest round of promotions, highlighting significant growth within its Australian offices as part of the firm's annual expansion efforts.
This year, eight of the firm’s Australian professionals were promoted, with three being elevated to partner status.
In its Sydney office, Melissa Tang has been promoted to partner, bringing her extensive experience in handling complex disputes and regulatory matters within the energy, marine, and natural resources sectors.
Additionally, the firm’s insurance practice sees the promotion of James Rigney and Luke O'Kane to partner roles. Rigney is noted for his work within the firm's financial lines and construction professional indemnity teams, while O'Kane specialises in areas including personal injury, liability claims, and property damage.
Clyde & Co has also appointed five new special counsels in Australia.
Claudia Dennison in Brisbane, along with Jacky Li and Stuart Lloyd in Sydney, will enhance the insurance – technology & media group, focusing on cyber breach responses.
In the projects & construction practice, William Barrington (Projects & Construction) in Sydney and Hannes Marais (Insurance - Professional & Financial Disputes) in Brisbane have been promoted to manage professional & financial disputes.
Rebecca Kelly, who has been serving as the Australian managing partner since last year, said that these appointments support Clyde & Co's strategic focus on delivering comprehensive services that meet the evolving needs of both international and local clientele.
“Our new partners and special counsel are shining examples of Clyde & Co's values in action with their focus on client excellence, working together as part of a global team, and celebrating and welcoming different perspectives and ideas from across the firm. They offer invaluable insight and expertise to our international and local client base, helping them to understand and navigate risks and make the most of the opportunities available as the world becomes an ever more complex place to do business,” she said. “They represent the next generation of senior talent within the firm, and it's fantastic to see them progress and steer their teams towards continued success. Congratulations to all as they mark the next milestone in their careers.”
On a global scale, the promotion of 19 new partners across the firm underscores its continued investment in broad sectoral expertise, spanning aviation, disputes, insurance, and energy sectors. These strategic moves come two years after Clyde & Co's merger with BLM, enhancing the firm's casualty insurance practice to better serve a vast majority of UK general insurers.
Senior partner Carolena Gordon said that the promotion of these individuals is crucial to the firm's mission of providing top-tier legal counsel and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction worldwide.
“At Clyde & Co, the diverse talents of our people are essential to delivering the expert advice and high level of service our clients around the world expect from us. All those promoted this year deliver on this day in, day out. They help us to excel as a firm and provide unparalleled support to our clients in navigating the risks they face,” she said.
