Financial comparison website Canstar has revealed the winners of the 2018 car insurance star ratings award.
The winners got top ratings among 61 policies from 51 insurers across Australia, using a methodology which compares both cost and features across comprehensive car insurance products.
Budget Direct, Bingle, and CGU were named national winners for outstanding value car insurance in 2018, with each recipient offering emergency accommodation and repairs, towing and cab fares after an accident, and a lifetime guarantee on repairs as standard, plus coverage for non-nominated drivers in the event of a claim, Paint and Panel reported.
At state level, Budget Direct also scooped the top honour in NSW, Queensland, Tasmania, and Victoria while SGIC and RAC outshined competitors in South Australia and Western Australia respectively.
Suncorp bagged the outstanding claims service award for the second consecutive year, having received market-leading reviews for claims service including repairs, transport options, and claim lodgement options, the report said.
The star ratings aim to help consumers create a shortlist of product options, where a five-star rating represents outstanding value for customers.
