Willis Australasia has announced that Tony Barber will become CEO of the company in January 2016.
Currently deputy CEO of the company that covers Australia and New Zealand, Barber joined Willis in 1998 and will replace retiring CEO Roger Wilkinson.
Wilkinson, who has spent three years in the role and ten years with Willis Group, said that Barber’s experience both in the general industry and with Willis will see the company build in the future.
“Tony will provide strong leadership and vision for Willis Australasia and the wider insurance industry,” Wilkinson said.
“He is a very experienced insurance professional who understands first-hand the challenges faced by both sides of the insurance market, and clients at all levels. Tony will continue to refine our business model so that we develop, grow and create more value for our clients.”
Barber, who started his insurance career in 1986 with New Zealand Insurance and has worked across underwriting, claims and portfolio management in his illustrious career, said that the future looks bright for the company in Australasia and beyond.
“This is an exciting time at Willis and I look forward to leading our great team, growing our business both organically and through targeted acquisitions, and bringing to life the substantial technology investment and improvement to benefit our clients and our team.”
