The 17th edition of The Best Lawyers in Australia for 2025 shines a spotlight on 4,513 lawyers across nine major metropolitan areas. Sydney is the top metropolitan area with the most recognised lawyers.
Spanning across 95 practice areas, the top 10 practices boasting the most honourees include litigation, insurance law, alternative dispute resolution, corporate law, commercial law, construction/infrastructure law, real property law, mergers and acquisitions law, labour and employment law, and government practice.
Wotton + Kearney (W + K) marked a notable presence in the insurance law field, with several of its senior lawyers acknowledged for their expertise. This includes Cheryl Phillips, who not only specialises in insurance law but was also named “Lawyer of the Year” for her outstanding contributions to the field. The firm's focus on insurance law was further underscored by multiple recognitions across its offices in different cities.
Colin Biggers & Paisley also demonstrated its strength in insurance law, with a whopping 43 listings in this area.
