It looks like Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is on a roll.
Barely a week since announcing its foray into the property construction market in the UK and Ireland, the top insurer has now revealed further expansion. The Boston-based firm said its North American transactional liability insurance business is branching out – tapping not only the UK market but that of Europe as well.
Ed Martin, who joins BHSI’s London office from global legacy and run-off specialist Enstar Group Limited, has been appointed as transactional liability head for the UK and Europe. He served as lead in-house M&A (mergers and acquisitions) lawyer at Enstar.
“As the need for solutions for the risks and uncertainties in corporate transactions continues to grow, BHSI is pleased to bring to market the local expertise, financial strength, and capacity that will enable companies in the UK and throughout Europe to respond, quickly and strategically, to the exposures of mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions,” noted senior vice president and head of transactional liability Robert Underhill.
“Ed is a stellar addition to our expanding transactional liability team worldwide.”
In the US and Canada BHSI provides representations and warranties, contingent liability, and class action settlement insurance while its new market will be offered warranty and indemnity, tax, and contingent liability cover.

In Europe, BHSI operates as part of Berkshire Hathaway International Insurance Limited.
