Berkley Insurance Australia has announced that two new managers have joined its business.
The firm has appointed Jon Wilmott as New South Wales state manager and David Rogers will head up corporate solutions.
Rogers will lead an area of the business that will look to utilise the global reach of Berkley and its US operations.
In the role, Rogers will focus on developing products and expertise in the transactional insurance market, specialising in warranties and indemnitees, tax opinion and contingent liability cover.
Previously, Rogers was the CEO of
Ironshore’s Australian operations and, in his new position, he will oversee products in cyber, product recall, life sciences, and environmental liability.
“The aim is to establish a portfolio focussed mainly on the specialty classes where we can add value by delivering on the service and expertise model Berkley are widely regarded for in the SME space,” Tony Wheatley, Berkley CEO said.
Rogers said that the ability to set-up new product lines was a key reason for joining the firm.
“The ability to work with the team locally and overseas to expand the breadth and depth of the business in Australia is really unique and will add another layer of products to Berkley capabilities while retaining the service and expertise focus,” Rogers said.
Wilmott will oversee and develop the underwriting team in the state and was previously underwriting manager at
ProRisk, and also has experience with international firms
AXA and
Beazley.
