Layton, who came onboard the brokerage giant in 1987 and held various senior positions across the US, is making the switch to Beazley in December. She will work closely with Jones, who is retiring from the specialist insurer in June 2019, for a six-month transition period.
Once settled into the new role, the Atlanta-based successor not only will liaise with her team in the US and the UK but will also meet brokers and partners across Beazley’s global footprint.
“We are very excited that Lou Ann is joining Beazley, bringing with her a wealth of experience in product design and delivery and extensive market knowledge,” commented chief executive Andrew Horton.
Layton, who started her career in insurance as a management liability lines underwriter, will be part of the executive committee at Beazley.
“I’m also grateful that Dan will be staying on with us until next summer,” added Horton.
“Dan has been instrumental in the growth of our business and in building our brand. His strong relationships and knowledge of our brokers and clients has enabled us to build successful strategic partnerships in the US and beyond.”
Jones joined as a non-executive director in 2006 before becoming Beazley’s first head of broker relations and marketing about four years later.
