Law firm Barry.Nilsson. (BN) has announced eight promotions to strengthen its national network of offices and continue laying the foundations for its next generation of leaders.
The law firm has promoted two principals, four special counsels, one senior associate, and one associate across its insurance & health and family law teams, effective on January 1, 2022.
Nicholas Bell (Sydney) and Stewart Boland (Brisbane), the newly appointed principals at BN, are both highly experienced insurance lawyers.
Bell has more than 12 years of experience in insurance law and has acted for several insurers, self-insureds, not-for-profit organisations, religious and youth institutions, and government agencies. In his new role at BN Sydney, he will join the principal ranks as the public liability team's first dedicated casualty principal, leading a team of dedicated casualty lawyers on matters relating to public liability matters, including sexual abuse, catastrophic injury, claims involving injury to minors, property damage, and construction liability claims.
Meanwhile, Boland has more than 20 years of experience in CTP claims across the Northern Territory and Queensland, including motor claims involving CTP personal injury and property damage claims. Drawing on many years of experience to establish a busy CTP-focused practice, Boland will now lead the firm's dedicated Queensland CTP team in his new role.
Joining the two principals are four special counsels:
BN also promoted Ashlea Hawkins to senior associate (insurance & health, Melbourne) and Demi Peters to associate (insurance & health, Tasmanian).
Rhett Kennedy, the chairman of the BN board and lead insurance & health principal, said the recent appointments recognise the firm's commitment to investing in the next generation of leaders across both its insurance and family law practices.
“From an insurance perspective, our focus continues to be about consolidating and strengthening our national offering,” Kennedy said. “Our focus has always been on finding the right people who share our values and bolster our client-centric culture and supporting them to grow with the firm as our future leaders.”
The eight recent appointments follow the appointment of financial lines expert John Fogg as a consultant at BN's insurance & health law practice in Brisbane and Genevieve Morgan as a special counsel in its family law team in Sydney.
