Barry Nilsson (BN), an insurance and family law firm, has welcomed five new senior lawyers to its Adelaide team.
BN board chairman and national insurance & health lead principal Rhett Kennedy said the latest appointments reflect the firm's commitment to recruiting the best talent and providing the highest level of service to its clients nationally.
“We are thrilled to be expanding the Adelaide office with a group of people of such high calibre and renown,” Kennedy said.
Principals Helen Stavridis (pictured, left) and Julie Kinnear (pictured, right) and special counsel Lucille Stewart joined BN's Adelaide team with other senior lawyers and practice professionals from Sparke Helmore.
Kinnear said she was looking forward to joining the firm renowned for its insurance and health law expertise.
“I speak on behalf of Helen and our team when I say we are thrilled to be joining BN to expand the firm's renowned client service within the Adelaide market,” she said. “It's an honour to be appointed to the firm within such a fundamental time of growth and evolution for the practice, and we are so pleased to be hitting the ground running within the firm.”
Kennedy said he expects the trio and their team to grow the Adelaide office and strengthen the firm's capability to support its national clients in the highly specialised areas of insurance and health law.
“Julie is a recognised leader in the insurance market in Adelaide and specialises in professional indemnity and financial lines claims,” he said. “[Meanwhile], Helen is highly regarded and responsible for managing a casualty practice assisting a number of major Australian insurers.
“The quality of our team members in the insurance and health practice demonstrates BN's commitment to providing our clients with the highest level of technical ability and client service, and we are delighted to have Julie, Helen, and their team on board.”
The trio and their team joined BN's Adelaide team after the firm overhauled its look and strategic focus for 2023 to 2025.
As part of its renewed strategy, BN – which will celebrate its 60th anniversary this year – will deepen its expertise in family and insurance law to defy the current “generalist” professional services trend of expanding into new business lines.
“Launching alongside BN's refreshed brand, our 2025 strategy consolidates the direction BN embarked upon 10 years ago while mapping a clear path for strong and sustained growth underpinned by a client-first approach embraced by staff at all levels,” Kennedy said in a previous statement.
