Insurance technology firm BAIS has appointed David Farrer, a member of the BAIS team for eight years, as chief technology officer. He has been tasked with developing the firm’s technology road map to ensure they meet the industry's evolving needs.
Farrer has a strong technical background with over 30 years of experience in multi-value databases gained from various roles, including software consultancy, business analyst, and data processing manager.
Jim Armstrong, the managing director BAIS, commended Farrer's excellent technology and insurance knowledge.
“It's very difficult to find outstanding people who have both excellent technology and insurance knowledge. The depth and breadth of [Farrer's] experience put him above the other candidates as we look to extend our reach into new products and territories. I'm thrilled that we have been able to find someone who is already part of the BAIS family,” Armstrong said.
BAIS continues to focus on technology solutions, including its flagship insurance system, iBAIS, having already invested AU$40m in developing and expanding its offerings.
David Hampton, the recently appointed general manager BAIS, commented: “BAIS has been busy positioning the business for growth and innovation. The events of 2020 have highlighted the demand for new insurance products and ways of managing risk.
“The market is littered with large technology projects that have failed to deliver. Having David in the role of chief technology officer will further ensure the insurance technology solutions we develop make it easier for customers to make their objectives happen smoothly and efficiently.”
