AXIS Insurance has announced the appointment of James “Jay” Hamilton to the newly created role of global head of accident and health insurance. In his new role, Hamilton will lead AXIS Insurance’s accident and health business in both the US and international markets. He will be based in Chicago and will report to CEO Peter Wilson.
“Jay has built a strong reputation within the accident and health insurance market and is a trusted partner to many of our most strategic A&H brokers and clients,” Wilson said. “His appointment to global head of A&H insurance reaffirms our commitment to ensuring we remain a valued partner to our clients and brokers in the accident and health insurance market. We look forward to the leadership contributions Jay will make in this new role.”
Hamilton, a 30-year industry veteran, joined AXIS in 2010 and served for eight years as executive vice president and CEO, North America Insurance, for the company’s accident and health business unit. Before joining AXIS, Hamilton spent 10 years at Chubb, where he headed up the firm’s accident and health business. He has also served as vice president of CNA’s group accident insurance and reinsurance lines in the US and Canada.
