Up to 100 IT jobs in QBE Australia are to be offshored to India, a trade union has said.
The IT roles are currently performed in New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia according to the Finance Sector Union.
A spokesperson for QBE told Insurance Business: “We have advised the FSU that we will have 100 people going to redeployment.”
The decision is part of QBE’s plans to make cost savings of $250m by the end of 2015. It involves the creation of 700 jobs in the Philippines which will lead to a reduction in total employees in the insurers Australia, Europe and North American branches.
