The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), an independent statutory authority supervising the Australian financial services industry, has announced changes to its leadership team.
It announced that Brandon Khoo, current executive director for insurance, and Sean Carmody, current executive director for cross-industry insights and data (CID), will swap roles – effective April 04, 2022.
In his new role, Khoo will oversee several of APRA's specialist supervisory teams and drive the regulator's ongoing investment in its data and analytical capabilities.
Meanwhile, as the new executive director for insurance, Carmody will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of APRA-regulated entities within the general, life, and private health insurance industries. In addition, they will report to APRA deputy chair Helen Rowell.
APRA also announced that APRA general counsel Warren Scott will depart after spending 13 years with the regulator. Meanwhile, Lucinda McCann, current general manager, legal, and deputy general counsel at APRA, will replace Scott, effective April 15. Lastly, APRA has appointed Sharon Burns as its new chief financial officer, effective in late April.
Commenting on the leadership team shuffle, APRA chair Wayne Byres said: “I am pleased to be able to announce each of these new appointments, which are reflective of the strong leadership team APRA is fortunate to have.
“I would also like to acknowledge and thank Warren Scott for his very significant contribution to APRA over more than a decade.”
