The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) has selected Guide Dogs SA/NT as its charity partner for the 2025 South Australian Charity Luncheon.

Now in its 52nd year, the annual luncheon brings together professionals from the South Australian insurance sector for networking while raising funds for a nominated charity.

Proceeds from the 2025 event will go toward supporting Guide Dogs SA/NT’s work in providing guide, assistance, and facility dogs for individuals who are blind, have low vision, or require specialised support.

Guide Dogs SA/NT CEO Aaron Chia said the event would help increase awareness and financial support for the organisation’s programs.

“I am grateful that this event allows us the opportunity to share our mission and hope that attendees feel empowered to show their support, whether that be financially or by taking action to improve accessibility in our community,” he said.

Giving back to communities

Commenting on the partnership, ANZIIF CEO Katrina Shanks emphasised the insurance industry’s ongoing commitment to community engagement.

“Our South Australian Charity Luncheon showcases the generosity of the insurance business sector and insurance professionals. Partnering with an established charity such as Guide Dogs SA/NT is a true honour,” she said.

This year’s event will feature various fundraising activities, including a silent auction, a raffle, a cash lottery, and a wine wall offering a selection of South Australian wines. There will also be a gin-tasting experience.

Attendees will be served a three-course meal featuring locally sourced cuisine, followed by dessert options from a gelato cart. A networking drinks event will follow the luncheon, allowing participants to connect with industry peers.

The 2025 South Australian Charity Luncheon is scheduled for May 12 at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

Scholarship for insurance professionals

In a separate initiative, ANZIIF has partnered with Lloyd’s to launch the 2025 Lloyd’s Innovators Scholarship, aimed at supporting career development in the insurance sector.

The scholarship is open to brokers, general insurance professionals, and loss adjusters who have completed a Tier 1 qualification or hold an Australian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA) Certificate in Loss Adjusting.

Recipients will receive up to $5,000 in financial assistance to progress from these qualifications to a diploma. The scholarship also includes enrolment in ANZIIF’s “Lloyd’s Demystified” course and an industry experience placement at Lloyd’s Sydney office.

Applications for the scholarship will be accepted from Feb. 10 to Aug. 1.
