The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and specialist law firm TurksLegal have announced that applications are now open for the 2020 Bright Light Award.
The Bright Light Award gives general insurance professionals an opportunity to pitch an idea or opinion on a topic that relates to general insurance claims to a panel of industry leaders. The award offers a prize of $5,000 cash to the winning, as well as up to $1,500 to spend on coaching and professional development, and an exclusive opportunity to work with TurksLegal and ANZIIF to showcase their idea across the general insurance industry.
Meanwhile, the runner-up will receive a complimentary registration to the 2021 Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA)/ANZIIF claims convention in Australia, inclusive of flights and accommodation.
Australian residents who work directly in a capacity connected with general insurance (including workers’ compensation) may apply for the award. To enter, individuals or teams of up to three people need to pitch their idea or opinion in their choice of either a short video submission, a written submission, or a voiceover of images on PowerPoint.
The finalists will be invited to a short discussion in November to explore their idea, and the winner will be announced at the virtual ANZIIF general insurance breakfast on December 02.
“Now in its third year, the Bright Light award provides a platform for Australian general insurance professionals to showcase an innovative idea relating to general insurance claims to assist with challenges facing the industry,” said Prue Willsford, chief executive officer of ANZIIF Bright Light Award judge. “All three finalists last year submitted engaging and insightful video presentations and I encourage entrants to continue to innovate and think creatively. This is an invaluable opportunity to have your idea heard by senior industry leaders and to further your professional development. I encourage all eligible individuals to apply.”
“Now, more than ever, the bright voices and ideas of those in the general insurance industry need a chance to be heard,” said Paul Angus, partner at TurksLegal. “Whether the idea is big or small, the Bright Light Award offers that opportunity and platform to insurance professionals – as well as a great prize.”
Applications for the Bright Light Award close at 5pm (AEST) on Tuesday, October 13, 2020
