The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) has partnered with Lloyd’s to introduce the 2025 Lloyd’s Innovators Scholarship, aimed at fostering career advancement in the insurance sector.
The scholarship is open to brokers, general insurance professionals, and loss adjusters who have completed a Tier 1 qualification or hold an Australian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA) Certificate in Loss Adjusting.
Recipients will receive funding to progress from these qualifications to a diploma, with each scholarship valued at up to $5,000.
As part of the initiative, scholarship winners will also be enrolled in ANZIIF’s “Lloyd’s Demystified” course.
In addition to financial support, the scholarship offers hands-on industry exposure through a structured experience at Lloyd’s Sydney office.
Applications will be accepted from Feb. 10, 2025, until Aug. 1, 2025.
Peter Plustwik, general manager of Lloyd’s Australia, said the scholarship aims to support professional development and enhance knowledge of the Lloyd’s market.
“The scholarship recognises future leaders and innovators and provides an excellent educational opportunity designed to advance the careers of insurance professionals. This is a great opportunity for new talent to develop their understanding of the Lloyd’s market, which remains at the forefront of innovation,” he said.
ANZIIF CEO Katrina Shanks described the initiative as a platform for professionals to demonstrate their commitment to the industry.
“This is fantastic way for an insurance professional to showcase their passion for the insurance sector,” she said.
The initiative aligns with ANZIIF’s broader push for skills development, citing ongoing industry changes and the increasing importance of professional education.
The organisation has outlined several training and development opportunities for the year, including resources focused on improving customer engagement, supporting clients facing financial challenges, and managing workplace interactions. These materials, accessible to ANZIIF members, include articles, activities, and webinars that cover both technical skills and professional development.
