The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) has officially wrapped up its year with its annual awards ceremony and AGM.
Each year, ANZIIF recognises a number of award winners and members for their contribution to ANZIIF and the insurance industry as a whole. Awards handed out at the 2019 AGM include the ANZIIF Service Award and the Honorary Membership.
The Honorary Membership went to JLT Australia’s public sector operations in Western Australia head Jonathan Seth for his long-term contribution, service, and proactive influence on the insurance industry. Seth has been an active member of ANZIIF for many years and has led and been a part of various councils and committees including the WA Branch Executive Committee, the IPC Council, the Academic Council, the Insurance Broking Faculty Advisory Board and was a director on the ANZIIF board for four years, retiring in 2012.
“His dedication to professionalism, and providing expertise and structure to ANZIIF’s educational programs has been extraordinary,” ANZIIF said.
Meanwhile, the annual ANZIIF Service Award was presented to ANZIIF fellow and Clearview managing director Simon Swanson. He has been an active member of ANZIIF including in the role of chair of the Life, Health and Retirement Income Faculty Advisory Board. He was also a member of Industry Advisory Council for Life Insurance and has sat on many ANZIIF event committees. He has over 30 years of industry experience, having worked with CommInsure, Sovereign and Colonial, and spent half of his career in the Asia-Pacific region. Swanson was also instrumental in buying Bupa Australia’s life insurance and wealth management businesses and transforming them into the integrated life insurer and wealth manager that ClearView is today.
“Simon’s dedicated advocacy for the continuing education of industry members is outstanding and he has worked tirelessly with ANZIIF over many years sharing his knowledge and expertise,” ANZIIF added.
At the AGM, AMP Life CEO and Resolution Life Australasia head Megan Beer was named ANZIIF president, and General Insurance Australia and New Zealand Zurich Financial Services Australasia chief executive officer Tim Plant was announced deputy president.
