Julie Kinnear, a partner at Sparke Helmore, Adelaide, has been presented with life membership by the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) at the South Australian chapter's annual general meeting held this week.
Kinnear was appointed as AILA's new life member for her significant contributions to the association's development in SA.
A highly experienced professional indemnity lawyer, Kinnear is the immediate past chair of AILA's SA chapter, as well as the chapter's longest-serving committee member. She also served as the chapter's secretary for many years, and was chair of the national conference-organising committee in 2016.
Kinnear defends negligence claims, works with insurers on policy-coverage advice and dispute resolution, and advises corporate entities on insurance and indemnity clauses in contracts. She also acts for Lloyd's syndicates, overseas and Australian insurers, claims managers, and insured organisations that manage claims within their deductible levels.
In 2012, Kinnear was named Adelaide’s Insurance Lawyer of the Year by the Australian Financial Review.
