In the wake of Australia’s failed Voice referendum, Steadfast Group has announced a partnership with indigenous advisor Sean Gordon AM. A media release said the aim is “to help guide the next phase of the Group’s reconciliation commitments.”
Sean Gordon AM was co-convenor of the Liberals for Yes campaign and serves on many national boards and advisory committees. Steadfast’s managing director, Robert Kelly, said Gordon will play an important role guiding Steadfast’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
“While we’re encouraged by the progress we’ve made so far, we also realise that this is a journey, and we still have a long way to go,” said Kelly, who also chairs his firm’s RAP committee. “Mr Gordon’s experience, leadership and deep understanding of Indigenous communities will help us take our reconciliation efforts to the next level.”
In the release, Gordon said he is “always heartened to work with organisations and companies that are dedicated to authentic and long-term reconciliation.”
Kelly said Gordon has been an “extraordinary advocate” for First Nations people.
“His life’s work has been dedicated to empowering Indigenous people through social, cultural and economic means, which aligns beautifully with what we aim to achieve through our RAP commitments,” he said.
Gordon is managing director of Gidgee Group Consulting and Partnerships, a 100% Indigenous-owned business. He previously served nine years at the Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council and is the current CEO of the Yadha Muru Foundation.
