Specialist farm insurer Achmea Australia (Achmea) has entered a strategic partnership with GrainGrowers, the “voice” for Australian grain farmers, to encourage and support one of Australia's largest agriculture sectors.
Together, Achmea and GrainGrowers will “feed the world” and help the sector reach $100 billion of farm gate value by 2030 by providing a platform for the grains industry to share knowledge, risk mitigation strategies, and best practices to address shared challenges.
As part of the partnership, they will hold flagship events for 2022:
“With this new strategic collaboration, Achmea Australia will advance its purpose of keeping farmers farming while protecting and enhancing agricultural communities through creating new opportunities to collaborate and learn from each other,” said Achmea CEO Emma Thomas.
GrainGrowers CEO David McKeon commented: “The GrainGrowers team is delighted to work alongside Achmea Australia to support growers across a range of aspects, including risk management, climate variability, and sustainability. Achmea Australia's co-operative values and commitment to live sustainably together make the farm insurer a great fit for GrainGrowers to support our progressive and profit-focused growers in producing world-recognised safe and nutritious grains.”
Thomas added: “This ethos of collaboration and sustainability is at the core of this new strategic agreement. The agricultural industry is stronger together, and Achmea Australia is looking forward to working collaboratively with the grains industry so that we can support its future sustainable growth and feed a growing global population.”
Both organisations are committed to future-proofing the grains industry and building stronger communities. In early 2020, Achmea called to future-proof agriculture following a string of natural disasters that put farmers' resilience to the test.
“[It is] important for all industry partners – from farmers on the ground through to industry bodies, government, insurers, and consumers – to work together to ensure a sustainable future in Australian agriculture,” Thomas said in a previous statement.
