A global risk adviser and broker has committed its ongoing support to football as it continues its tradition of bringing the AFL to suburban and regional Australia.
The 2019 JLT Community Series Fixtures will see 18 games played from Feb. 28 to March 11 across Australia, with Port Pirie, Lismore, and Werribee hosting the pre-season AFL football for the first time.
“Hosting an AFL game in the community provides strong economic and infrastructure benefits for local clubs and towns,” said Damian Schinck, JLT Specialty CEO. “As the official risk partner of the AFL, we’re all about building resilience in organisations and communities for many years to come.”
Travis Auld, AFL general manager of clubs and broadcasting, said the JLT fixture allows fans to see their heroes and new recruits up close before the AFL Premiership season starts.
Auld also commended JLT for its ongoing support of football at all levels.
“JLT is the national insurance broker for the AFL, our 18 clubs, and the state associations across the country, and they have a vital grassroots presence in our game to ensure that our players and volunteers are protected,” Auld said. “The regions hosting 2019 JLT Community Series matches highlight and align to the work JLT undertakes within the football community, and experience shows us that football fans from all parts of the country embrace the pre-season matches, while players are able to return to communities that have played a big part in their careers.”
