History of Scott Winton Insurance Brokers
Scott Winton Insurance Brokers was founded in 1992 by the late Ron Tatarka. It began as a small insurance broking business, selling insurance door-to-door, and over the years, it grew to become one of the largest independent insurance brokers in Australia. It is currently headed by Ron’s son Avi Tatarka, who joined the company in 2008 and took over as CEO following his father’s death in 2018.
In 2013, Scott Winton Insurance Brokers took eighth place in the Top 10 Brokerages list of Insurance Brokerages. Ron Tatarka was named Australia’s number one insurance broker in the inaugural Elite Brokers survey by Insurance Business magazine. In 2014, he topped the list again, but he remained humble and credited the team with the success. Scott Winton scored a double that year, as NSW state manager Simon Althaus took second place. SWIB, meanwhile, went up the Top 10 Brokerages list, reaching fifth place. That year, Tatarka was also recognized as runner-up in the National Insurance Brokers Association’s broker of the year award. 2015 marked the third year that Ron Tatarka topped Insurance Business’s Elite Broker rankings.
In 2019, his first year as CEO of the firm, Avi Tatarka was included in the Insurance Business Elite Broker list. He also won QBE Broker of the Year in the 2019 NIBA awards. In 2020, Scott Winton Insurance Brokers was nominated in several categories by Insurance Business: Avi Tatarka in Broker of the Year – Independent (20+ Staff), QBE Insurance Brokerage of the Year (>20 staff), Best Customer Service from an Individual Office, and Eli Tatarka for Young Gun of the Year – Independent (20+ Staff).
