Business Development Manager QLD & NT
CHU Underwriting Agencies
Craig Stanley is the Business Development Manager for CHU Underwriting Agencies QLD & NT.
Craig has an MBA from the University of QLD and has completed the Diploma in General Insurance. He regards himself as an Insurance Professional having worked in many different roles over the last 30 years. Craig spent many of those years at Zurich in roles from Business Development Manager, eBusiness Development Manager, Senior Underwriter, Property Surveyor and Financial Lines Underwriter managing Global accounts.
Craig has a preference for Property and for the last 7 years he has enjoyed working in the specialised area of Strata Insurance where he was at QUS for 5 years reaching the role of National Sales Manager and CHU for the last 18 mths where he has contributed greatly to the growth of the QLD & NT market.
In recognition of Craig’s outstanding achievements and contribution to the strata industry he was recently awarded the Underwriting Agency BDM of the Year 2021 from Insurance Business Australia Awards.
Craig is a passionate advocate for the role of technology in Insurance and how it assists in delivering better customer service. He runs many training sessions for internal and external stakeholders. Craig is also a strong believer in education and is a regular contributor to the Strata Community Association (QLD) through presentations on Insurance and Storm Preparation, Strata Starter & the A100 Qualifications for Strata Managers in respect of Insurance and Risk Management.
As an insurance specialist and strata supporter, he is proud to be actively involved in the growing and ever changing strata industry.
One of Craig’s great standouts in the last 18 mths was to quickly adapt when Covid-19 hit to come up with a new strategy and implement it using virtual meetings. This involved mentoring Underwriters to get better at Relationship Management.
He recognises the importance of good communication. It is important to communicate when times are good but also when they are not to ensure you are setting the right expectations and to give comfort that the activities you are putting in place will improve the current situation.
Craig believes in giving back to the Community and recently managed a program where he arranged all CHU Employees in QLD/NT to use their volunteering day to work at Oz Harvest for a day to create food for the less fortunate.
