International reinsurer TransRe has appointed Zhequiang Xie as head of its North Asian operations. The appointment will strengthen the company’s existing leadership and help execute its Asian business strategy.
In the newly created post, Xie will supervise operations at TransRe’s Hong Kong branch office and Shanghai representative office. He will join the reinsurer’s Asia-Pacific senior management team, and will be in charge of guiding the company’s strategic planning and business development in the region.
Xie has more than 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry, having worked at senior management positions in several companies, including PICC, China Re, and Lloyd’s. Most recently, he was CEO of XL Insurance (China), based in Shanghai. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Nankai University, Tianjin and an Executive MBA from the Cheungkong Graduate School of Business, Beijing.
Paul Bonny, TransRe’s president of international operations, commented: “China is a strategically significant growth market for us, and Zheqiang’s extensive market experience and first hand understanding of the regulatory environment and regional client issues make him an ideal choice to help us expand our business in Asia.”
