NorthStandard, an insurer in the Asia-Pacific region, is set to establish its new office in Seoul, anticipating full operational status by late spring. Spearheading this endeavor is Shang Doe Shim, a claims director currently stationed at the insurer’s Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore.
David Roberts, the head of Asia-Pacific at NorthStandard, emphasized the significance of South Korea as a pivotal market within the region given its status as the company’s largest market in Asia.
A news release said that, historically, NorthStandard managed its South Korean operations from the UK and Singapore, with support from the exclusive Korean correspondent, Ins-Ship Aide. While this arrangement persists, there is a strategic shift to acknowledge Korea’s importance to NorthStandard. The company envisions tapping into substantial potential by offering a more localized service, tailored to the needs of its growing membership.
“This will continue, but in light of the importance of Korea to NorthStandard, we see considerable potential to provide a more localised service offering to our expanding membership, with a particular focus on claims support,” said James Moran, chief operating officer for the Asia-Pacific region.
This move marks NorthStandard’s eighth office in the region, augmenting its existing presence in Singapore, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Nelson. The expansion is part of the company’s plans to position itself in key markets, ensuring proximity and tailored support for its diverse clientele.
