FWD Fuji Life Insurance Company, also known as FWD Japan, has appointed Hideki Yamagishi as representative director, president and CEO, effective January 12, 2021, subject to regulatory approval.
Yamagishi will report to Huynh Thanh Phong, FWD Group CEO. He succeeds current FWD Japan CEO Norio Tomono, who will continue in his role as director and take on responsibilities as country manager for FWD in Japan.
“Our appointment of Yamagishi-san reflects the strategic importance we place on the continued growth of our business in Japan, the world’s third largest insurance market,” said Phong. “I’m delighted to welcome Yamagishi-san to FWD and look forward to working together with him. I have every confidence that our Japan business will flourish under his leadership and experience as we seek to continue strengthening our presence and change the way people feel about insurance in Japan.”
Yamagishi was most recently Japan CEO for NFC Holdings, an insurance broking and financial advisory company.
“I’m honoured to be given the opportunity to lead our Japan business as CEO,” Yamagishi added. “I’d like to thank and congratulate Tomono-san on his stewardship of FWD Japan from the launch of our business until now and look forward to working together with our leadership team to continue building on the successes we have enjoyed so far.”
