Citi has appointed Alson Ho as head of insurance for Hong Kong, with overall responsibility for the growth and management of the bank’s insurance business in the special administrative region.
Ho reports to Sujoy Ghosh, head of insurance for Asia-Pacific and EMEA, as well as Lawrence Lam, head of retail banking for Hong Kong. He is in charge of business development, sales and distribution, channel management, and product assurance.
In 2006, Ho joined Citi Hong Kong as a management associate, and was most recently head of deposits, trading and margin products, overseeing the consumer bank’s balance sheet and retail banking products development and growth strategy.
Citi also made a simultaneous non-insurance appointment, with Lawrence Li being named head of cards and unsecured lending. Like Ho, Li joined Citi Hong Kong in 2006 as a management associate.
“The appointments are testimony to Citi’s long history of nurturing talent and promoting high-performing leaders from within the organisation,” said Angel Ng, CEO of Citi Hong Kong and Macau. “With their institutional knowledge and track record in driving business growth and accelerating our progress on digitisation, I am confident that they will continue to play an important role in sustaining the strong growth momentum of the consumer banking business and building on our success in delivering the right products and services that are relevant to our clients.”
