Allianz has signed on as a major sponsor and insurance partner for the Asian Para Games 2018 in Indonesia this month.
As part of the agreement, Allianz Indonesia will provide health and liability insurance for the duration of the Games, covering more than 19,000 athletes, officials, and volunteers during their month-long stay in October. Allianz will also provide third-party liability insurance for the various sports events across 19 venues, and throughout the opening and closing ceremonies.
According to Allianz, the partnership is in line with its strategy to use the power of sport to connect with new audiences and enables the insurer to share its expertise in protection solutions with the next generation of insurance customers from Asia.
This follows Allianz’s recent agreement with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to become part of its ‘Worldwide Olympic Partner’ programme from 2021 to 2028.
“We are inspired by all the Para Games athletes and are delighted to offer our support as they strive to reach their personal ambitions at the event,” said Joos Louwerier, country manager and president director of Allianz Life Indonesia. “We hope that the protection provided by Allianz to thousands of athletes and supporting people will give peace of mind during their month-long stay in Indonesia.
“For us, we’re confident that this partnership will enable Allianz to broaden its customer base across Asia, and help introduce insurance protection to customers whom might never have considered it before.”
The Asia Para Games are held every four years, with athletes with physical disabilities from 42 countries across the region competing in various sports. This year’s edition will take place from October 06 to 13 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
“We’re very proud to have Allianz as a partner of the Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games as we know the company is the global partner of the International Paralympic Committee,” said Raja Sapta Oktohari, chairman of the Indonesia Asian Para Games Organizing Committee. “We hope Allianz can continue its support for the Paralympic movement in Indonesia and help Indonesian Para athletes to have better achievement at higher levels.”
