Sun Life US has announced the appointment of Maya Beri (pictured) as chief information officer.

Beri, a seasoned leader in IT strategy, previously served as senior managing director and CIO for Sun Life subsidiary SLC Management. In her new role, Beri will focus on expanding digital tools to improve access to healthcare and benefits for Sun Life US clients.

Dan Fishbein, president of Sun Life US, expressed confidence in Beri’s leadership: “We’re fortunate to have a deep well of talent in the Sun Life enterprise and pleased that Maya is joining our US team.

“Maya brings extensive expertise in end-to-end technology solutions and digital innovation to our US business. We look forward to additional leading-edge developments under her leadership, delivering capabilities that are in high demand by our clients across the US.”

As Sun Life US CIO, Beri will be responsible for driving the growth of digital services and strengthening strategic technology partnerships. Key capabilities include Sun Life Link and Sun Life Onboard. Respectively, they are used to connect Sun Life’s benefits to HR systems and streamline the onboarding process for new employer clients.

Beri emphasized the importance of these innovations in today’s healthcare environment: “In the complex US healthcare ecosystem, benefits offered through employers and government programs are more important than ever in helping people get the right care to live healthier lives.

“I am eager to work with our talented digital teams to drive innovation and provide connected benefits solutions that our members need.”

Before joining Sun Life, Beri held leadership roles at major technology and financial institutions like Intel Corporation, CIBC, and TD Bank. At SLC Management, she oversaw a global team and led initiatives in digital solutions, client experience, agile methodologies, and operational efficiency.
