Wilton Reinsurance Bermuda (Wilton Re) has contributed $5,000 to the Menuhin Foundation, a longstanding organization dedicated to enhancing musical education in Bermuda.
The foundation has been active since 1976, offering numerous programs aimed at providing children with the opportunity to learn string instruments regardless of their socio-economic backgrounds.
According to a spokesperson from Wilton Re, the foundation ensures that all children “will have access to the unique, social, emotional, and intellectual benefits of learning to play a stringed instrument and develop a lifelong appreciation for music.
Meanwhile, the organization's mission focuses on “providing opportunities for learning, performance, and access to instruments regardless of background and resources.”
Sylvia Oliveira, CEO of Wilton Re Bermuda and a violinist involved with the Bermuda Philharmonic, commented on the importance of the foundation's work.
“The Menuhin Foundation’s commitment to our schoolchildren is to be lauded and supported,” she said in a report.
Laura Davis, chair of the Menuhin Foundation, also reiterated her gratitude for Wilton Re's ongoing support.
“Wilton Re for their continued recognition and value of the Menuhin’s programs and the need for ongoing support,” she said, acknowledging the impact of their contributions.
Brendan Kemp, CFO of Wilton Re, also expressed his support, highlighting the challenges faced by smaller charitable organizations in securing necessary funding.
“Wilton Re Bermuda, our staff and I truly appreciate the considerable charitable work supporting Bermuda’s community and especially recognize the challenges facing the smaller charitable organizations to be able to secure funding during a time when there are less resources available to them,” he said.
In March, the reinsurer was also named as the new primary sponsor of the Devonshire
Colts’ youth program, in a partnership set to extend over the next four years.
Established in 2005, Wilton Re Bermuda is an A-rated life and annuity reinsurer.
