In line with its recent expansion, Bermuda-based underwriter and reinsurance investment platform MultiStrat has named Maryam Abdullah (pictured above) as head of pricing.

MultiStrat said that Abdullah, who has been working with the company as a consultant since 2022, is now joining on a full-time basis to support the company’s expansion plans for 2025.

Abdullah is a fully qualified actuary (FIA) with more than 20 years of actuarial experience and over a decade of experience as a broker in the capital markets and re/insurance sectors. She specializes in product development for structured and capital relief transactions.

Before her work with MultiStrat, she held consulting roles at Greenlight Re, Renaissance Re, and the African Risk Capacity. She also previously served as head of capital at Capsicum Re.

The appointment comes following a major revamp for MultiStrat in November, when Jim Robinson, CEO of MultiStrat Advisors, officially retired after 12 years in his role.

Robinson was a co-founder and has led the firm’s capital advisory division. Under his leadership, MultiStrat touted that it raised capital to support more than US$2 billion in assets under management for investors.

2024 also marked an important year for the Bermuda-based reinsurance specialist as it celebrated 10 years of operations. Since its inception, MultiStrat has underwritten and facilitated over 50 transactions, spanning single and multi-class deals.

In September of the previous year, MultiStrat also announced leadership changes, including Kier James' promotion from vice president, underwriting, to chief underwriting officer.

Patrick Grealy, previously executive vice president, also moved into an expanded role focused on portfolio and performance management.
