Foresters Financial has appointed Matt Berman (pictured) its new president and chief executive officer.
The announcement was made by board chair Dan Fortin, who congratulated Berman on his new role.
“We have the utmost confidence in Matt's leadership,” said Fortin, speaking on behalf of the board. “He has a deep understanding of our organization, values, and the ever-changing dynamics of our industry.”
Since joining Foresters Financial in February 2017, Berman has been pivotal in transforming distribution channels, product portfolio, operations, and underwriting in the US and Canadian markets.
His notable achievements include establishing new agent-intermediated and direct-to-consumer sales partnerships and enhancing the digital customer journey.
He also contributed to introducing products and member benefits designed to protect individuals with diabetes.
Berman was named president of Foresters Financial US and Canada in March 2023. His other roles include chief distribution officer and president of the insurer’s former subsidiary, Foresters Life Insurance and Annuity Company (FLIAC).
“Matt has accomplished a great deal during his tenure at Foresters,” Fortin said. “His contributions and guidance will continue to be invaluable to our future success. As Foresters celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, Matt will usher in a new era of innovation in the solutions we provide to our members and the advisors who serve them.”
Foresters also acknowledged the contributions of René Zanin, who served as interim president and CEO beginning July 2023.
Zanin will resume his previous responsibilities overseeing Foresters’ legal and compliance teams. He will also take on additional roles related to member experience, engagement, governance, and development.
Zanin will assume the title of global chief legal, compliance, and membership officer.
