Novatae Risk Group has appointed John Catrabone (pictured above) as vice president of carrier relations. In his new role, Catrabone will oversee carrier relationships and work to establish new strategic alliances, supporting Novatae’s expansion of product solutions.
Catrabone joins Novatae with over 30 years of experience across various insurance sectors, including US surplus lines, global carriers, and brokerage firms. His background includes working with Fortune 500 clients in complex global risk management, both from the broker and carrier perspectives.
Based in Ohio, Catrabone began his new role on Oct. 21.
Catrabone has been an active speaker at RIMS chapters nationwide on complex property risk strategies and contributed to the John Liner Review during his consulting career.
“John brings decades of expertise and relationships that will be invaluable to us as we work to better align the interests of our insurers with Novatae’s ongoing expansion plans,” said Richard Kerr, CEO of Novatae.
Kerr noted that the company looks forward to Catrabone’s contributions as it continues to pursue both organic growth and acquisitions.
Catrabone expressed enthusiasm about joining Novatae, stating that he aims to further develop the firm’s strategic partnerships.
"The firm has grown exponentially during the past two years so a robust alliance infrastructure will serve us, our partners and our clients well,” he said.
Before joining Novatae, Catrabone served as chief distribution officer at Universal Fire & Casualty Insurance Company in Ohio, overseeing all MGA and wholesaler activities.
His previous leadership experience includes roles at companies such as Tokio Marine America, Risk Match, Assurex Global, Zurich, Gallagher, HILB, and Deloitte. He holds a BS in Risk Management & Insurance from Pennsylvania State University.
In March, the wholesale brokerage also announced its acquisition of London-based Bretton Woods International (BWI) for an undisclosed sum.
Founded by former Ark Syndicate Management class underwriter and Miller Insurance Services broker Dan Goggin in 2015, BWI specializes in complex contingency, accident and health, cyber, professional liability, management risk, and general liability with a focus on open market and program placements.
