USAA has announced the appointment of Tamla Oates-Forney (pictured above) as executive vice president and chief human resources officer. In her new role, Oates-Forney will report to Wayne Peacock, president and CEO of USAA. She will be a member of USAA’s executive council and lead teams spanning talent development, talent acquisition, pay and benefits, culture and employee services.
"Tamla is a purpose-driven, people first leader with deep and diverse HR experience and a strong track record of leading organizations through transformational periods,” Peacock said. “Her leadership and expertise in developing people and teams who can deliver excellent business results are a great match as we envision and execute on strategy for our second century. We are excited for Tamla to join Team USAA."
Oates-Forney joins USAA from Waste Management, Inc., where she served as senior vice president and chief people officer. Prior to that, she spent 20 years at General Electric, progressing through leadership and executive positions.

Oates-Forney sits on several public and advisory boards and has received multiple honors, including: board and committee member for the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, Kenan-Flagler Business School, World 50 and Black Women on Boards. She has been recognized by Fast Company, The Network Journal’s 25 Influential Black Women in Business, and Savoy’s 2020 Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America.
