New travel insurance provider Gigasure has partnered with Blink Parametric, marking a significant step in delivering the latter’s travel assistance products directly through a mobile app.

The collaboration will see Blink’s real-time flight disruption and lost luggage benefits offered through an app for the first time, as part of Gigasure’s GigaShield package. Policies provided by Gigasure are underwritten by (re)insurer SiriusPoint, while claims and assistance services will be handled by SiriusPoint subsidiary IMG (International Medical Group).

“Gigasure is here to make insurance simpler, more personalised, and accessible for travellers, empowering them like never before,” declared Gigasure chief executive Ernesto Suarez (pictured right, with Blink strategic accounts director Richard Pollard).

“By offering innovative solutions like Blink flight disruption and lost luggage protection, we deliver added value and peace of mind in an unpredictable world.”

As a parametric offering, the flight delay benefit features automatic activation. A policyholder is given the option to either access one of more than 1,300 executive airport lounges or receive a real-time cash payout when a registered flight is delayed by at least three hours.

Blink’s lost luggage solution, meanwhile, ensures a one-time payment is made directly to the traveller as soon as a luggage delay is confirmed, helping cover any immediate expenses while the luggage is being tracked down.

“When we designed Gigasure, our goal was to provide an experience, not just an insurance policy that gets bought and forgotten,” Suarez added. “We were inspired by Blink Parametric’s innovation, which is at the forefront of insurtech and traveltech evolution, just like us.

“We’re excited to collaborate and bring these unique benefits to market through an app for the first time and look forward to supporting our customers together.”

Commenting on the tie-up, Blink CEO Sid Mouncey said: “Our flight disruption and lost luggage solutions fit perfectly into the Gigasure online product portfolio.

“Backed by SiriusPoint – longstanding specialists in providing international health and expatriate medical insurance, this is another progressive, innovative move within the UK market that we’re delighted to support.”
