Ventis, a commercial and residential real estate managing general agent (MGA) supported by Mission Underwriters, has reported its first full-year results, outlining growth in policy volume and underwriting activity since launching operations in January 2024.

The company has issued 3,000 policies, providing cover for property assets valued at £5.5 billion. In addition, Ventis recorded £12 million in gross written premium during the year.

To accommodate ongoing business expansion, Ventis has also announced plans to further develop its underwriting team throughout 2025. Effective from March 1, two internal promotions have been made within Ventis’ senior underwriting group.

Holly Mist, previously senior development underwriter, has assumed the role of head of schemes and operations, while Rob Murton, also formerly senior development underwriter, now serves as head of new business and underwriting. Both positions involve management responsibilities within the mid-market insurance sector.

"With such strong results in our first year, we have established a real foundation for our continued growth, and in creating clear and distinct roles for Rob and Holly we are positioning our team to be able to deliver that in the long term for our clients,” CEO Gareth Roberts said.

In 2024, the company also expanded to the Irish market, with the MGA offering its underwriting capacity through an exclusive distribution agreement with Specialist Risk Group’s The Underwriting Exchange (TUE).

The partnership enables Irish brokers to access the real estate MGA’s capacity for mid-market risks of up to €40 million in sum insured.

Ventis appointments to support growth

Additionally, Ventis has also confirmed two recent senior hires to establish its specialised SME underwriting team.

Ian Newman has joined as director of SME, effective immediately. Newman, who has nearly 30 years of industry experience, previously worked at Covéa Insurance for 13 years and has held roles both as a broker and an underwriter. He will lead Ventis' strategy development within the SME market and will engage directly with brokers.

Additionally, Jenny Attewell will join Ventis as SME lead underwriter from April 1. Attewell has 18 years of underwriting experience in the SME real estate market, with previous roles at Direct Line, NIG, and most recently RSA. Attewell and Newman will collaborate to build Ventis' presence in the SME segment.

Ventis is backed by Mission Underwriters and, as an Accelerant Member, has access to long-term underwriting capacity provided through the Accelerant Risk Exchange.
