Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has appointed Thomas McShane to the newly created role of head of technology and media E&O.

In the position, McShane will be responsible for strengthening TMK’s global cyber and technology portfolio, with a specific focus on supporting technology and media businesses.

His expertise in Technology E&O will complement the company’s existing cyber and intellectual property offering, it was stated. McShane will also be tasked with driving portfolio growth across key regions, including the UK, US, Europe, and Australia.

McShane brings nearly 10 years of experience in professional lines to TMK. He joins from Axis, where he was E&O lead, overseeing the strategic direction of the portfolio and handling complex policies for large technology businesses. Prior to Axis, McShane worked for Allianz and AIG for nearly seven years, underwriting professional indemnity and cyber lines.

TMK highlighted its continued growth within the London market and its commitment to specialty lines of business in multiple regions. McShane will join the company in January and will report directly to Laila Khudairi, departmental head of cyber & enterprise risk.

Khudairi noted that the company has been a leader in the cyber market since its inception and has continually adapted its offerings.

“Appointing Thomas to deepen and extend our offering to technology businesses is the latest example of our philosophy in practice. The risk landscape for technology businesses is becoming more complex by the day. Threat actors are increasingly sophisticated, and AI is adding new weapons to their arsenals. Thomas is the ideal candidate to spearhead the expansion of our technology offering and I look forward to working with him,” Khudairi said.
