It looks like British insurtech ThingCo, which recently teamed up with Chinese firm Tk.cn Insurance, is serious about forging ties with insurers from China.
October 26 and 27 marked two important days, which saw the start-up host an Insurance Association of China (IAC) delegation in London. The trip was coordinated with the support of Sam Radwan of Enhance International.
Along with partnerships director Richard Trebble, ThingCo founder and chief executive Mike Brockman (pictured) arranged for the delegates to visit the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), Lloyd’s of London, and the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
“It is an honour to welcome delegates from the IAC to London,” commented Brockman. “While we have global ambitions for ThingCo, we are proud to be a UK business and it will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase the innovations emerging from this world-class insurance market.
“We want to use this opportunity to foster relationships with key contacts in the Chinese insurance industry and demonstrate our credentials as part of an industry that is changing the shape of motor insurance around the globe.”
The IAC, which is commissioned by the relevant government departments, organises and formulates industry quality and service standards as well as technical specifications and regulations in accordance with China’s laws. It is a non-profit and a national self-regulatory organisation with nearly 400 insurance company, agency, and association members.
