London-headquartered Lloyd’s broker Superscript has expanded into Europe via the Netherlands.
The business, which is known as the first UK insurtech to become a Lloyd’s brokerage, has secured Dutch regulatory approval and is now authorised to operate across the European Economic Area. Pictured above is Superscript’s team in Rotterdam.
“Small and high-growth businesses have traditionally been underserved by the European insurance industry,” said Superscript co-founder and chief executive Cameron Shearer. “Particularly in the emerging tech space, finding access to the right advice and covers is exceptionally difficult and often carries high premiums.
“Superscript’s digital-first approach, underpinned by proprietary tech, is transforming this process for these businesses. In the UK, we’ve made great strides disrupting business insurance. The Netherlands is the natural next step for us because it has the ideal combination of a strong regulatory body, a large insurance industry, and a thriving start-up ecosystem.”
In May, the provider introduced Daylight, a dedicated insurance product for digital asset businesses. The company, which completed its Series A funding round in 2020 and has raised £20 million to date, also relaunched its advisory service SuperscriptQ as a digital-first proposition earlier this year.
“By combining our EU (European Union) and UK footprint, we will now be able to leverage even more capacity to help ensure customers get the best outcomes,” added Shearer. “I am excited for what the future holds.”
Superscript is one of the top insurtech companies in the UK.
