Two new roles have been created at Legal & General as part of what the British insurer calls its ‘digital evolution’.

Robert Jamieson, who was chief operating officer of Legal & General Retirement (LGR) for more than three years, is now group chief digital and technology officer across the retail digital platform. Janine Menasakanian, meanwhile, makes the switch from Vanguard to Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) as head of distribution strategy for personal investing.

In his previous capacity, Jamieson implemented a technology-first strategy and led the development of a single, scalable administration platform across all LGR institutional and retail products. This created one view of the customer and a single source of data for 1.2 million customers in late retirement.

Menasakanian, who will be supporting the growth of LGIM’s personal investing business, is experienced in developing distribution strategies for global banks, asset managers, and family offices. She will report to personal investing head Dame Helena Morrissey, while Jamieson reports to LGIM chief executive Mark Zinkula.

Jamieson will lead a new group-wide team managing Legal & General’s retail digital platforms, including those of LGIM for workplace pensions and personal investing. He will be in charge of creating a seamless and engaging customer experience, starting with LGIM.

“Excellent online service that’s straightforward, engaging, and intuitive is a must for our customers,” said Zinkula. “We have created many digital success stories over the years and Robert will play a key role in accelerating our ambitions to meet our clients’ digital needs.

“To support our customers throughout their savings and pension journey, Robert will help us deliver a cutting-edge digital platform strategy with innovative customer outcomes and a 360 degree single customer view.”

Among the goals is to create a digital-only proposition for personal investing.

“I’m excited to welcome Janine and to be working closely with Robert in his new role as we gear up our development of a customer-led personal investing platform,” commented Morrissey. “Engaging the nation to invest will enable more individuals to feel financially secure and confident about their future.”

Morrissey said the latest appointments take them a step closer to executing the plans they have been working on.
