“We want to be the managing agency of choice for specialist underwriters at Lloyd’s.”

Those were the words of Coverys Managing Agency CEO Robin McCoy when the firm announced the appointment of its chief information officer and chief technology officer. Effective immediately Robert Scott-Stewart assumes the role of CIO while CTO Peter Chambers comes onboard in October.

Scott-Stewart, who started his career at Zurich Re, joins Coverys from Brit Insurance where he had served in the same CIO capacity from 2012. His 24 years of experience includes time spent as Catalina Re’s group CTO. Chambers, on the other hand, has worked as a consultant to the likes of AXA, Amtrust, Brit Insurance, and Canopius for nearly two decades.

The Lloyd’s managing agent of Syndicates 1975, 1991, 3330, and 1110 said tapping the two executives is aimed at providing a market-leading, modern, and scalable platform to support Coverys’s specialist team in London.

“We want to work with underwriters with genuine specialist expertise, who are passionate about their chosen sector and who can bring new untapped business, new distribution avenues, and innovative approaches to the market,” explained McCoy. “Coverys Syndicate 1975 is an example of this philosophy in practice.

“We recognise that to realise this ambition, we need a market-leading platform which is robust and capable of expanding to accommodate our and our partners’ growing businesses. Robert and Pete will be integral in helping us achieve this.”
