Broker Insights has announced the appointment of Tom Duke (pictured above) as chief operating officer.
As COO, Duke will leverage his technical expertise to enhance the Broker Insights Vision platform, which has captured over 20% of the British regional broker market. Additionally, he will tackle the operational challenges associated with scaling the firm into new markets, ensuring a seamless onboarding process and optimal user experience for clients.
Duke’s career spans over 25 years in the technology industry, during which he has collaborated with numerous fast-growing businesses, including Broker Insights, to develop products that keep pace with rapidly evolving industries.
The tech veteran also played a pivotal role in the growth and subsequent sale of TVSquared, one of Scotland’s most successful technology ventures. Working as the chief information officer of TVSquared, Duke oversaw technical strategy and managed teams across the US and the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) region. The company was acquired by American firm Innovid in 2022.
Duke also spent time at Brandwatch where he served as operations director, and at iBAHN where he held the position of chief technology officer. He also held senior-level roles at Memex, Orbital Software, and Vision Consulting.
Reflecting on his new post, Duke highlighted the importance of building robust infrastructure and operational processes alongside creating exceptional products.
“That combination of technical and operational challenges is hugely motivating for me, and I have already been impressed by the vision and expertise of my new colleagues at Broker Insights and what they have achieved to date,” he said.
Supported by a successful Series A funding round in 2021, Broker Insights has grown its team to 60 professionals and invested in data science capabilities and analytics tools to bolster its offerings. Duke’s appointment comes as the company grows its international presence and expands into the US.
“Our expansion into the United States, where we are undertaking a trial, is key to our international business plans,” said Broker Insights chief executive Fraser Edmond. “Tom’s insight and knowledge of scaling technology companies to prepare for this kind of expansion will be invaluable over the coming years.
“His experience at TVSquared in handling cloud-based infrastructure internationally, while responding to ever-growing customer demand, will be particularly important.”
Broker Insights’ platform connects leadings insurers like Allianz, AXA, Aviva, Hiscox, QBE, CFC, Ecclesiastical, ERS, Markel, and HSB Engineering with brokers, spanning over £2 billion of commercial broker gross written premium including £1.6 billion originating from the UK’s regional commercial insurance market.
