SME insurance provider Simply Business has added Markel UK to its insurer panel to provide contractors combined insurance to companies with at least 10 employees and £750,000 in minimum turnover.

“We are thrilled to welcome Markel as a global partner,” said UK commercial director Ruth Owen, whose camp initially focused on the likes of sole traders and microbusinesses. “Their outstanding customer service and unique wealth of expertise in the SME sector make them an ideal fit for our expanding portfolio of products for larger businesses.

“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our communities, and welcoming Markel to our panel enables us to expand our offering of choice, simplicity, and value even further.”

Trading in the UK since 2005, Simply Business has seen its customer base more than double over the past five and a half years. The digital broker’s expansion into the larger business market aims to address the evolving needs of companies as they scale.

Nicola Sumner (pictured), divisional director of partnerships at Markel, noted: “Simply Business has an impressive track record of growth and serving its customers to the highest possible standards, and we are delighted to support their expansion ambitions in the larger-companies space.

“Our contractors combined product has been carefully tailored to meet the needs of the customers it is designed to protect, ensuring they have the robust coverage and added-value services they need to thrive.”

Earlier this year, Simply Business group chief executive David Summers highlighted: “Back in 2005, we set out on a mission to change the way small business owners and landlords purchase insurance.

“Now, with over one million customers and over 35 insurers on our panel, we’re committed to harnessing the power of our unique technology platform to make the insurance experience even simpler, better, and fairer for many more small businesses.”
