It’s official: Scotland’s largest independent insurance broker is now part of risk management and employee benefits specialist consultancy Jelf.
Barely a month since the acquisition was announced, the Marsh unit has now completed the transaction, terms of which were not disclosed. What we know for sure is that Jelf is about to become huge up north, as it snaps up Clark Thomson to merge it with its existing Scottish operations.
Also present in Dundee, Elgin, Glasgow, Inverness, Kirkwall, Nairn, Oban, and Thurso, the Perth-headquartered brokerage employs more than 200 people and provides personal lines insurance, as well as insurance broking services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
“Together with Jelf, as well as the wider Marsh family, we will be able to build on the reputation we have earned for developing long-lasting relationships with our clients in Scotland,” commented Clark Thomson managing director Ben Bailey, who will lead the consolidated business, subject to regulatory approvals.
Meanwhile a management team is drawn from across the two parties.
“I am thrilled to welcome Ben and his colleagues at Clark Thomson to the Jelf family,” said Jelf chief executive Phil Barton. “The combination of Jelf and Clark Thomson in Scotland significantly strengthens the advice and products we can provide to individuals, SMEs, and mid-size companies right across the country.
“Our shared ethos means together we build a truly exceptional business for our colleagues, clients, and communities alike.”
